DJ Equipment Guide Home | Vestax Mixers
Vestax mixers have quickly become the preferred Battle and Club DJ mixer. Once again, welcome to another DJ Equipment Guide review. This time I look at mixers made by Vestax.
Vestax wasn't always Vestax. Its' former name was Shiino Musical Instruments Corporation, then Shiino Vesta FIRE Corporation and now the Vestax Corporation.
|
They broke into the US market by placing their electronic equipment in front of the eyes of famous musicians at a store on Hollywood Boulevard and it was their mixers that helped them score big selling 200 units per month. As they say the rest is history and that same rich history can be found in their DJ mixers today.
Vestax mixers as they pertain to DJing have great range for every application. From research and development to design to construction each team puts equal weight on each project and as a result Vestax mixers have quickly become the weapon of choice for many DJs.
Vestax makes many different models and for this review
I picked the
Vestax PMC-05PROIII DJ Mixer
and VMC-004
Techno/Trance , and the PCV-002U
Pro.

The more elaborate mixers that really push the envelop
are the PMC-07 Pro ISP and the PMC-500 Pro.
I like the PMC-05 Pro III (pictured below) because they did something with their design that was so simple it transformed the DJs ability to mix and scratch.

They minimized the knobs and buttons located around the faders so the DJ wouldn't accidentally hit them during their performances. Nothing is more embarrassing than getting a volume surge or flicking the AUX or Line switch by accident.
Clean design and functionality is the trademark of Vestax mixers and the PMC-05 Pro III has it.
This mixer also includes fader curve control for fast scratching action or a long curve for smooth mixes. One of the features I like the most is the ability to reverse the program on the faders. This allows the turntables to be reprogrammed to opposite channels on the fly. So turntable 1 is now turntable 2 and vice versa.
Vestax's team approach to design and construction of their DJ mixers is reflected in their understanding of the creativity and flexibility that DJs require in their mixers.
The VMC-004 Trance/House DJ Mixer houses a lot more for the money.

Vestax VMC-004 Four Channel DJ Mixer
The VMC-004 offers 3 band isolators per channel with 100% infinity cut and +4dB of boost for each frequency. Bass, middle, or treble can be cut up to 100%, helping House and Techno DJs to spin more creative mixes.
Each channel on the VMC-004 has a 5-segment LED meter, allowing the DJ to adjust each channel to match the level of the channel that is being heard through the master outputs. This allows the DJ to transfer from one channel to another without hearing a volume change.
You can save $120. This model runs about $299.
So if you are going to be beating up your fader then any one of the Vestax mixers will stand by you for a very long time. You can read more on Vestax mixers and other mixers by clicking DJ Mixers.
