  • Hi,

    Back To Basics

I got an email from a subscriber who decided to unsubscribe from my newsletter. I wasn't upset or anything because people just decided that they no longer need the information. I really appreciated the honesty in the letter because he told me straight up that the newsletter started to lean towards too much marketing.

I have to be honest I was taken back for a split second but as I though about it the former subscriber was pretty much dead on. I started to get heavy handed with pushing products for purchase rather getting you the meat and potatoes on DJ gear.

So what I decided to do was to go back to the basics. I started to read some of the first newsletters I wrote back in 2004. I saw that they were really from the heart even with all of the grammatical errors. I guess they still exist because I am a poor proof reader.

So what I am going to do is get back to just giving you the essence without all of the marketing hype in the newsletter itself. If I plan on marketing anything or announcing an offer it will be once a month unless it is time sensitive and I will make is plane as day in the subject line of your email so you can either delete it right away or open it and read it.

The newsletter will not have any marketing material. So from this point on no more ads.

    DBMLabs.com

    Motivate
    Elevate
    Innovate
    Education
    A DJ Inspired Lifestyle.

Simple and straight forward is how I would characterize DBMLabs.com.  It's a no nonsense website dedicated to four simple words that are loaded with connotation.
    Motivate. Elevate. Innovate. Educate.

I got an email from Jonathan who helps run DBMLabs.com asking if I would blog on his site.  I said sure why not and in return I would get a shirt for my efforts. There are several selections and it was hard for me to choose. I finally chose the Dilla. About a week later the shirt arrived.

(Now I am sure Jonathan would like to help many of you get shirts in exchange for blogging but In order to help him and his site I ask that you support him as best you can buy buying a shirt. I will be buying additional shirts as sign of support.)

I opened the package and found the Dilla. Now I have to say that I am not a small man. I am 6'6” 216 pound so I was a bit skeptical if the shirt would fit. I tried the shirt on and was amazed to find the XL size a bit larger than most XL's. Actually it was longer in the body, which I really like because I am tall. That is the one pitfall I find with other T's but not with the Dilla.

DBMLabs.com has put together a high quality shirt. Another benefit I noticed was that the shirt did not feel heavy on me. It was of nice quality cotton that felt good against my skin and it was breathable. I did not feel like the shirt was choking me at all. It was roomy enough but so roomy that I felt like I was wearing a parachute. That is another plus I have to give to Jonathan at DBMLabs.com. It's a nice fit.

This shirt also holds up well in the wash. Minimum shrinkage is the phrase that best describes it. (No Seinfeld pun intended.) It has, in my opinion, the look and feel that really represents what the DJ is all about.  Many times the DJ is often overlooked and misrepresented. But with cats like Jonathan and DBMLabs.com a real push to represent the DJ's lifestyle can be proudly worn everywhere you go and live.

As a special thank you, Jonathan from DBMLabs.com is offering 20% off for my readers. This offer expires June 24, 2008. Use the coupon code 'BEN' when making your purchase and thank you for supporting DBMLabs.com.

    Good lookin' out DBMLabs.com
    Motivate. Elevate. Innovate. Educate.

I know, I know you are probably thinking this was just one big ad. We'll I lready promised Jonathan that I would add this review in this month's newsletter. I don't consider this an ad because it is a review of a product.

    DJ Expo

Atlantic City, N.J. - The International DJ Expo is headed "Back to the Boardwalk."

After several years at the Atlantic City Convention Center, the DJ Expo is proud to announce that its 2008 show will move to the glittering Trump Taj Mahal Hotel & Casino. Show dates are set for August 11-14. As always, the DJ Expo-sponsored by DJ Times and its publisher Testa Communications-will present its special mix of exhibits of the latest DJ gear and specialty products, lively panels and instructional seminars, and star-studded parties.

Having recently undergone a multi-million-dollar renovation, the Trump Taj Mahal will put DJ Expo attendees right in the middle of the action, providing a slew of entertainment and dining choices to go along with the Expo’s deep slate of events, which includes its annual “Ultimate DJ System” Giveaway worth $25,000. Attendees, of course, will only be a Boardwalk stroll away from experiencing plenty more that the historic Atlantic City has to offer. AC’s taxi drivers won’t like it, but DJ Expo attendees can forget standing in any cab lines for this year’s show.
