Hi,
Do you Hobnox?
Got any beat creators out there? Anybody know how to make beats using the Roland 909 and 808? If I told you you can now make beats using classic drum machines would you do it? If I told you you could do it for free would you?
I just got finished beta testing a new online tool called Hobnox. It is a totally full functioning online tool to make beats with effects pedals and all. As part of the beta testing team i was privy to a first hand look at Hobnox and I can tell you this is what beats makers have been waiting for.
The 909 and the 808 are hard to get your hands on and if you do get your hands on one then you will pay more for it now than what they cost back in 1987. I used to own an 808 until I lost it in my house fire las summer.
But now thanks to Hobnox you can start creating beats when ever and wherever you want without lugging a beat machine around. This virtual tool allows you to route and re-route your patches any way you like.
There is a nice video tutorial on how it all works.
I don't know how long this will be free but I can only imagine as the brand grows they will begin to charge some sort of fee to access the site. I suggest you get in where you can fit in now while the site is still fairly new.
I'll be practicing making beats using Hobnox. Maybe I can crank out some bangers on the 808. By the way I also used to produce hip hop music for a group called Prophets of the Ghetto (POG) which disbanded in 2005. However during that time the group cultivated another crew within itself called 84. This is the offspring of POG which is alive and kicking at 84hiphop.com.
Check out some of the video I shot of them at 84HipHop.com

Long live the DJ,
