Freelance writer Joe has done it again. This time the Behringer ADA8000 gets a BIG thumbs up.
DJ Equipment Make: Behringer
DJ Equipment Model: ADA8000
Pros: The ADA8000 is a great piece of equipment. It is an 8 in, and 8 out digital to analog and analog to digital converter. It has XLR in and out, TRS in and out, and it even has optional phantom power on all 8 channels in... So no need for a preamp. You could plug a mic, electric guitar, or whatever directly into one of the inputs. Flip on the phantom power, and setup some ampmodeling in cubase, with some effects, and you are ready.
The Behringer ADA8000 also has digital adat input and output. 1 in and 1 out. It has the ability to be slaved at 44.1 or 48 khz, and it also has the ability to be master at 44.1 and 48 khz. This really comes in handy, depending on your equipment. I mostly just work with VST's, so i of course make it master, so that i have a dedicated piece of hardware keeping the wordclock. The slave would really come in handy though if you wanted to sync it with a 16 track recorder, or a hardware sampler, etc... has a BNC connector if you wanted to actually hook up a dedicated work clock processor. The possibilities with the Behringer ADA8000 are endless!

The Behringer ADA8000 has a green signal led, so you can see if you are actually getting a signal through it. Really helps in troubleshooting, seeing where along the lines you are having a problem... It also has a red clip led, also very useful in maximizing your input, without overdoing it.
VERY clean signal processing. Converts analog to digital and back flawlessly.
The best part of all, the Behringer ADA8000 only costs a little over $200. Very good price for such a fine piece of equipment.
Cons: N/A
Additional Comments: Overall, the Behringer ADA8000 is a great piece of equipment, and I haven't had a single problem with it yet. I have had it Since christmas of 04, and nothing to complain about. If you are looking for a way to get audio into your pc, with out sacrificing quality, and you don't have a lot of money... this is defiantlyfor you.
Overall Rating: 5 Stars out of 5
