DJ Equipment Guide Home | Vestax Turntables
There are certain things that separate the ordinary from the extraordinary and Vestax turntables do just that.
Vestax makes 3 types of turntables. Well actually
4 but for this review I'm only looking at the 3 main ones. The PDX
2000,
Vestax BDT-2500 Hi-Fi Belt-Drive Turntable
,
and the PVT-e2 Pivot turntable which is truly a unique turntable
with special technology built right in to keep it from loosing its
tracking force.

In this review I'll be talking about the advantages these turntables have for DJs.
The PDX-2000 is Vestax's main and only DJ turntable. It's built with the highest torque among all direct drive systems because of the special design of its DC motor.

Upgrade to the Vestax PDX2300
It also has the quickest start up and breaking time of all the turntables currently on the market. These two factors alone allow a battle DJ or turntablist to do fancier tricks and drive them to be more creative with their turntable skills.
This Vestax turntable was three years in the making and the world class Vestax research and development team spared no expenses in designing the new standard in battle turntables so they don't run cheap. Be prepared to be set back anywhere form $300 - $400 a pop.
The new ASTS (Anti-skipping Tone-arm System) technology that drives the tone arm on Vestax turntables is one of a kind. It consists of a short/straight arm and the TH (Trace Hold) balance system. These two elements help hold the tone arm in perfect balance so the needle does not skip during hard scratching. It also reduces feedback by up to 50%.
This technology has been applied to all of Vestax turntables. In my estimation this technology will transform the way battle DJs approach future competitions.
The BDT-2500 is not a battle DJ Vestax turntable in any way, shape, and definitely form. It's not built for scratching. It has another purpose.
Vestax BDT-2500 Hi-Fi Belt-Drive Turntable
Here's what sets this turntable apart from the PDX-2000. This turntable has a built in amplifier and can connect to any mixers LINE INPUT or pre-amp. Because it's a belt drive system it can't take the beating of tricks and scratching.
It comes with a high quality cartridge and needle for that often missed Hi-Fi sound. There is a bypass switch for normal phono use and a pitch range to play any speed record.
Here's a nifty idea. You know how you have all those crates of records. Now you can digitize them. Because it has that built in amp just connect the BDT-2500 directly into the LINE INPUT of your laptop, PC or Mac. Now you can convert your entire collection into MP3s and use Final Scratch in your next set. Look Ma'! No more crates!
Now this next one is definitely in a class of its
own. It's the PVT-e2.
I have yet to see one in action but as soon as I do I'll add to this review. So check back often.
But here's what I do know. Because of the active balanced ASTS system it allows the turntable to play on different angles up to 36 degrees and still hold its tracking.
The real test is in its ability to hold stead fast at the most extreme angle while scratching is taking place. I have to see this to believe it though. But from my understanding there is a special spring that compensates for the force put against the tone arm.
That's the advantage of the active balanced ASTS system. When you walk into a battle with Vestax turntables, people will not take you lightly for sure.
