DJ Equipment Review of the Pioneer CDJ 1000 MK2 CD Player

Review of the Pioneer CDJ 1000 MK2 Pro CD Player by DJ Statik - Please visit his web site at www.Illvibe.net

DJ Equipment Make: Pioneer CDJ

DJ Equipment Model: 1000 MK2

Pros: This piece of equipment is very useful when it comes to playing music that was never pressed on vinyl or just isn't available yet.

The scratching mechanism makes the cd player very much compatible with the turntable when using them interchangeably plus, you can adjust the speed of the start & stop functions.

In addition, there is a feature that keeps the master tempo voice pitch while changing the speed itself which is very helpful when doing remixes live. On top of all this, the CDJ reads most CDs, CDRs, and even CDRWs.

The CDJ allows a DJ to set 3 different cue points so he/she can bounce back and forth to different parts of the song which can be useful to actually change the rhythm of the song itself.

All of this combined with many other features including a digital output jack makes this piece of equipment top notch in the realm of DJing.

Cons: Contrary to other CD players with similar functionality, the platter on the CDJ 1000 doesn't move as a turntable does.

Instead a DJ must follow a digital readout which can be confusing at first to a vinyl junky.

Also, sometimes the CDs take a while to load and any hip hop DJ knows that when the time on a song is running out, you don't need a piece of equipment stalling on you.

I've had instances where different the Pioneer CDJ 1000 decided to pause the CD without me touching it. It doesn't happen often but when it does, it can sometimes take 5 seconds before the song will start again. Talk about embarrassing.

Additional Comments: Overall, I feel it's an important addition to DJing and it has already changed the face of the trade for those lucky enough to travel abroad doing it.

Overall Rating: 5 Stars

The Pioneer CDJ-1000 MK3 features the same robust build, polished look, and clear layout as previous CDJs. But the subtle revisions add more intuitive features, make it easier to transport music, and improve track info: refinements that make cueing, looping, scratching, and stretching a track easier than ever. An instant reverse feature is controlled with a toggle switch and can be used immediately within any track without having to stop or start. Along with multimedia cards, SD cards are now also compatible with the CDJ-1000 MK3 so that hot cues, hot loop points, and WAV display data can be easily stored and loaded. The removable memory card can also be used in any CDJ-1000, so once you've stored your favorite cue and loop points they're stored for life. The CDJ-1000 MK3 also has a feature that allows you to duplicate memory cards. The display of the MK3 has been improved to give more accurate display of memory points within the track. The CDJ-1000 MK3's 7" jogdial has been improved so you can quickly and easily alter the resistance of the jog wheel to tailor it to your individual style. The jogdial also features a new metallic...
