Sennheiser Announces The Evolution 912 S Boundary Microphone, Upgrades InfoPort Website

At INFOCOMM 2007, Sennheiser is launching the Evolution 912 S, a high-quality, pre-polarized condenser microphone with half-cardioid pick-up pattern that has been acoustically optimized for speech applications. The e 912 S boundary microphone features a very unobtrusive design that permits discrete placement on flat surfaces such as conference tables, lecterns and altars.

The new e 912 S offers a frequency response curve that is specifically tailored for picking up speech over relatively short distances, but may be switched to perform similarly to its sister product, the Sennheiser e 912, which is designed for instrument pick-up. An internal DIP switch bank allows the e 912 S microphone's frequency response curve to match the response of the e 912, or may alternatively be switched to select low cut, low and high boost (factory preset), or low boost.

The e 912 S may be switched on or off using the integrated programmable membrane switch. A second internal DIP switch bank provides additional features to be selected, including on/off (factory preset), push-to-talk button (PTT), cough button (PTM) or permanently switched on (ON).

The form factor of the e 912 S offers an extremely rugged sound inlet basket, a rubber damping plate on the base and a very unobtrusive, flat design that is ideally suited to a variety speech applications. Slots are provided for mounting the e 912 S on a flat surface. The microphone features integrated electronics, rather than an in-line preamp, and is supplied as standard with a gold-plated XLR connector.

The Sennheiser e 912 S boundary microphone has a frequency response of 20 - 20,000Hz and offers a maximum sound pressure level of 134dB (at 1kHz). The e 912 S measures 4.9 x 4.1 x 1.04 inches and weighs just 19.4 oz. Available in three choices of finish - black, Nextel gray or creme white - to suit any installation, it ships with a pouch, user manual and warranty certificate.

In other news, Sennheiser announces the first upgrade to their popular InfoPort technology website at InfoComm 2007. The InfoPort website is a comprehensive site that includes everything designers, consultants and contractors need to design and install systems using Sennheiser products. InfoPort resources include engineering data sheets, DFX drawings, 3-D solid models, PDF files, high-resolution images, architectural specifications, and frequency response and polar pattern graphs. With the new web engine, users will enjoy more information, faster searches and shorter downloading time. In addition, Sennheiser has increased the number products included on the site.

Noted David McNutt, team leader, installed sound, "The upgraded InfoPort website is now more engineering-oriented, and utilizes an improved decision tree, making it easier and faster to locate information for our core customers. Navigation is much faster and a specifier can get to a data sheet quickly. The site is also unique in that it contains an online viewer, a feature that allows someone to see a DFX or a 3-D file online without having to download. We've made it faster to find and download specific data, as well as easier to browse for the less-decided visitor."
