Stanton STR8-80 Turntable Review

Stanton STR8-80 Direct Drive Turntable User Review by Tim

DJ Equipment Make: Stanton

DJ Equipment Model: STR8-80

Pros: +-12/8, reverse, the torque is actually surprisingly good for some turntables that are not Tech12's, and I used them for 3 years before upgrading.

I played on the Numarks, the Gemini, all the other models and makes, but if you can't afford Vestax PDX or Technics 1210/1200, then these should be your next choice. WORD!

Cons: They are not Techs, as any DJ knows; inevitably you are going to have to buy some serious tables sooner or later.

Something that is very wack on the Stanton's is the pitch correction that lowers the tone if you have something playing at +8 so it does not sound like the chipmunks, but instead, it warbles the sound and distorts it, so if ya buy ‘em don't use this thing.

Additional Comments: My only other BEEF with these decks is that the motor off stops sound going thru to the mixer, so instead you have to push a few buttons, pretty confusing if you are 'In Da Mix' or whatever.

But all in all, a darn good deck. Just remember, if it takes CDs, has digital display, and realistic vinyl effect, burn it an get the real thing sucka! It's all about the black crack (vinyl).

Overall Rating: 4 Stars
