Welcome to another DJ equipment review by yours truly. This time I'll be exploring the Technics brand and hopefully you will come away with a good sense of why Technics has set the standard for turntables and DJ equipment.
Technics has a legacy that stretches back over 30 years. Technics turntables were the standard in discos, clubs and radio stations around the world. Now with the competition so tight the ground is closing fast.
Technics makes digital pianos, synthesizers, stereo systems and more. In fact my father still has his 1971 Technics stereo tube amp/receiver with knobs no less. But Technics DJ equipment set off a revolution they could not stop.
This is just a side bar but I remember hearing about a study on American car stereos. As a result of the study it was discovered that Americans who drive prefer knobs over buttons because it was easier find while driving, hence my reference to the knob thing.
Technics turntables set the standard. They come in
3 models. I use the world famous
Technics SL-1200MK2 Turntable Silver
. The other models include the
Technics SL-1210MK2 Turntable Black
, and the 30th anniversary edition Technics 1210MK5
pictured below.
Technics SL-1210MK5 Pro Turntable Black
There is not a heck of a whole lot of difference in the models. Except color and extended functions.
The Technics 1210 models come with wider pitch control and the 30th anniversary edition comes with blue LED's. They're all made from the same mold and die cast medal.
The 1210MK2 model is now the preferred choice of professional DJ world wide. Of all the DJ equipment on the market you can rest assured Technics DJ equipment is the best.
