Vestax PMC-007 DJ Mixer

Vestax PMC-007 DJ Mixer

Pros: It's a vestax. Nuff said. With that outta the way... cross fader is nice, and channel faders are nice. The face plate is designed for a screwdriver-less entry. It has a thumb screw holding it in place on the bottom of the mixer. Once you learn how to use it, it is pretty handy to just unscrew the thumb screw and pop the plate right off. The Vestax PMC007Faders also pop right out. They are held in place by 2 metal prongs you push inwards, and pull the faders right out. Also has XLR out, for VERY clean sounding output.

This mixer has a scratch EQ button that optimizes the sound you would typically want for a scratch sample without having to move the EQ knobs. This comes in handy for rave dj's who throw a scratch in the middle of a mix, where you can just put the scratch record on, press the button, scratch it up, then put you track on and start mixing by turning the button back off.

It also has a channel mute button for previewing a scratch in the headphones. What this means, is whatever channel you mute, you can scratch with the cross faderin the headphones, and it does not get played on the output. So you practice in the headphones WITH THE CROSSFADER and the crowd does not hear it. Very handy to see if a certain scratch will go over the beat you are playing.

Cons: The one I received was very difficult to get the face plate off. I had to actually take the entire mixer apart to loosen the faceplate, and then I had to reinstall the clips that hold it in place because they were angled wrong. If you take the faders out too often, which I do to clean and lube them, they start to get very lose. When you cut, the cross faderactually starts moving around. VERY expensive. definitely not worth $900.

Additional Comments: The fader problem stated above is easily fixed. Whenever you take the fader out, bend the metal clips out ward, or away from the fader itself. This way, when you insert the fader, the metal clips holding it in place are bent out and create a tighter fit in the housing of the mixer.

The faders are ok, but I feel that the Vestax PMC007 fader with some lube feels better. No comparison with the TTM 56 however. You can get a TTM 56 and have $150 extra for some M44-7's ... I never really used the mute channel buttons. I don't really see the use in it...

Overall Rating: 4 Stars out of 5 - Vestax PMC007
